Thames River Cruises

As the River Thames weaves its way through London there is history around every bend. Thames River Cruises are perfect for relaxing vacations. With many ports to stop off at, there is more then enough enjoyment for everyone. There are sightseeing adventures, such as palaces, docks, cathedrals and churches, fine bridges, theatres, museums all along the Thames . You could even just take one of the short river boat trips that are perfect when you have younger children, or just wish for a quick getaway. You can also enjoy dinner on Thames cruises, where you are served a five star meal. Companies can also rent out smaller boats for company parties.

Thames River Cruising Information:

  • Onboard, river cruise ships -- which rarely hold more than 200-plus passengers (and generally carry less) -- feel like smaller versions of cruise ships. Where they are limited is in onboard features and amenities. Barges are even smaller: Expect between six and 50 passengers!
  • Itineraries may incorporate major cities as cornerstones, but your Thames experience will focus more on smaller ports and villages.
  • Unlike the traditional cruise industry, most river and canal ships operate seasonally -- during spring, summer and fall months with a hiatus during December, January and February. Another fabulous exception is Christmas season in Europe , where several river cruise operators offer voyages that stop in towns and cities with Christmas markets.
  • You can expect to sail with a very international passenger mix on a Thames cruise.

Whether you decide to do an extensive trip or a day trip, many find River Thames boat trips to be a different perspective on a spectacular place.
